In 2004, he went to the United States to study lung transplantation and lung volume reduction at the University of Washington. In 2007, he obtained a doctoral degree in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. He has been working in the thoracic surgery department at Chaoyang Hospital in Beijing for 30 years, conducting both basic and clinical research on lung transplantation and lung volume reduction.
